    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen permeation/separation thin membrane exhibiting excellent properties for hydrogen permeation/separation. SOLUTION: The hydrogen permeation/separation thin membrane is composed of a Nb-Ti-Zr-Ni-Co alloy having the following composition and alloy structure. The composition comprises, by atom, 0.5 to 15.0% Zr, 14.5 to 31.0% Ti (where Zr+Ti content is 18.0 to 36.0%), 10.0 to 32.0% Ni, 0.5 to 18.0% Co (where Ni+Co content is 16.0 to 37.0%), and the balance Nb with inevitable impurities (where Nb content is 42.0 to 53.0%). The alloy is a quenched foil having a thickness of 0.1 mm or less prepared by a roll quenching method and subjected to a refining heat treatment. The alloy has such a structure that intermetallic compounds of Ni(Co)-Ti(Zr, Nb), in which a part of Ni is replaced by Co and a part of Ti is replaced by Zr and Nb in a solid solution state, and fine grains of Nb-based solid solution alloy dissolving mainly Ti, Zr, Ni and Co are dispersedly distributed.
