    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for manufacturing a pin for a power transmission chain capable of performing quantitative management of a pin holding state and thereby stabilizing working accuracy and facilitating management.SOLUTION: A holding force determination unit 36 for determining whether or not a pin 14 is held by an appropriate holding force is provided. The holding force determination unit 36 includes a load cell (sensor) 54 provided to an unloading unit 35 and detecting a pull-out force of the pin 14, and a processing unit 55 for outputting a leaf spring replacement signal when the pull-out force of the pin 14 detected by the sensor 54 is less than a prescribed value.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a pin for a power transmission chain shortening a grinding time by reducing tool setting man-hours.
      SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the pin for the power transmission chain includes a guide face grinding step of continuously forming first guide faces L1, L2 at one of both ends of the pin 14 for easy press-in and second guide faces U1, U2 at the other end of the pin 14 for easy press-in. The guide face grinding step uses a first grinding wheel 32 for grinding the first guide faces and a second grinding wheel 32 for grinding the second guide faces at the same time. First, a non-ground pin 14A is held with a pin axial direction perpendicular to a line connecting the rotational axes of the first and second grinding wheels to each other, and the first guide faces are ground at both ends at the same time. A first guide face ground pin 14B is moved, as it is, to the side of the second grinding wheel. Then, the first guide face ground pin is opposed to the second grinding wheel, and the second guide faces are ground at both ends at the same time.
