    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a constituent member of a bearing which can prolong the life of a ball-and-roller bearing and can ensure sufficient static load carrying capacity and dimensional stability, to provide a method for production of the constituent member, and to provide a ball-and-roller bearing which has a long life and exhibits sufficient static load carrying capacity and dimensional stability.
      SOLUTION: Heat treatment such as carbonitriding treatment is performed to a formed and fabricated material to be obtained from steel containing 3.2-5.0 mass% of Cr, and 0.05 mass% or more and 0.5 mass% or less of V. Thus, each content of C, N of a surface layer within a range to 10 μm from the surface of the constituent member of the bearing of the ball-and-roller bearing is made into 1.1-1.6 mass%, and 0.1-1.0 mass%, Vickers hardness at a position of depth of 50 μm from the surface is made into 740-900 (Rockwell C hardness is 62-67), a γ amount at a position of depth of 10 μm from the surface is made into 20-55 volume%, particles with particle diameters of 0.2-2 μm of vanadium nitride and/or particles with particle diameters of 0.2-2 μm of vanadium nitride and/or vanadium carbonitride are made to exist on the surface layer within the range to 10 μm from the surface, and area ratio of the particles on the surface layer within the range to 10 μm from the surface is made into 1-10%.
