    • PURPOSE: To obtain a polymer of uniform quality in the polymerization process of a synthetic rubber, by measuring the Mooney viscosity, Mooney viscosity- polymer conversion, overall styrene content and solution viscosity by means of a GPC device and automatically controlling the process so as to eliminate the differences between the measured and the set values.
      CONSTITUTION: During and after the polymerization reaction of a synthetic rubber, the polymerization mixture is shunted and diluted in an automatic sampling/ diluting device 4, and the diluted mixture is passed through a GPC device 5. From the GPC chromatogram produced by the above device, at least one factor for controlling the reaction selected from the group consisting of viscosity, viscosity-conversion, overall styrene content and solution viscosity is determined by means of an arithmetic estimation unit 6. Then, the above at least one reaction-controlling factor is controlled according to its difference from the set value to obtain the desired polymer. From the factors obtained from the above GPC chromatogram, the Mooney viscosity is determined according to the estimating equations I , II, and III wherein MV is a Mooney viscosity, A is a Mn or the like, B is Mn/M or the like, C is λ, D is IP, and K, K

    • PURPOSE:To facilitate the formation of hollow polymer particles, by polymerizing a suspension containing a hydrophilic monomer, a crosslinking monomer and an oily substance and removing the oil substance contained within the produced capsular polymer particles. CONSTITUTION:A suspension containing 100pts.wt. monomer component containing 5-70pts.wt. hydrophilic monomer (e.g., vinylpyridine or 2- hydroxyethyl methacrylate) and 1-40pts.wt. crosslinking monomer (e.g., divinylbenzene or ethylene glycol dimethacrylate) and 1-1,000pts.wt. oily substance (e.g., benzene or toluene) is prepared. The monomer component is polymerized by suspension polymerization to produce capsular polymer particles containing the oil substance within their insides. The oily substance contained within them is removed by evaporation to obtain hollow polymer particles suitable as an organic filler or the like.

This monomer dispersion is mixed with a dispersion of seed particles (e.g., polystyrene particles) to effect absorption or adsorption of the polymerizable monomer by the seed particles. The polymeizable monomer is polymerized in the presence of a polymerization initiator to obtain large polymer particles having a particle diameter of 0.1-500mum.
