    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent defective forming, defective plasticization, and increase in the rotational load pressure of an injection screw in the starting condition and during the steady state operation of a metal injection molding machine.
      SOLUTION: A load detector 20 is provided in a material feeding machine 18, the load detector 20 intermittently measures the material weight WPre in a hopper 10 before the feeding operation and the material weight WPos in the hopper after the feeding operation to calculate the actually fed material weight WM, the number of rotation of a motor 14 is reduced if the set feed weight WM is larger than the preset feed weight WS, and the number of rotation of the motor 14 is increased if the set feed weight WM is less than the preset weight WS for each feeding operation. The preset feed weight WS is corrected based on the cylinder temperature TM, the injection pressure and the shot weight WInj in the starting condition of the metal injection molding machine, and based on the cylinder temperature TM during the steady state operation.

      SOLUTION: In a mold, a metallic material is repeatedly subjected to extrusion and upsetting one or more times, and strong strain is applied to the metallic material, so as to increase its strength. As the mold, the one having a mold cavity 1a with a large dimensional cross-sectional area and an extrusion hole 1b with a small dimensional cross-sectional area connected to the cavity 1a and capable of opening/closing is used. The extrusion hole 1b is opened, the metallic material (magnesium alloy 10) is subjected to extrusion, the extruded metallic material is returned to the mold cavity, the extrusion hole is closed, and upsetting is performed in the mold cavity. The strength of the metallic material can be effectively increased without reducing the diameter of the metallic material. The amount of the strain to be applied can be adjusted by the number of repetition.
