    • PURPOSE:To obtain a steel plate having >=1,200MPa yield strength, >=100J Charpy absorption energy and >=150MPasq. rt. m breaking toughness value (K1C) at the temp. of liquid He and having small variance in the mechanical properties in the thickness direction by specifying the content components and component ratios of a steel and specifying the sheet thickness rolling and finishing temp. as well as cooling conditions after rolling to prescribed conditions. CONSTITUTION:A steel ingot is composed, by wt%, of 0.01-0.1 C, 0.01-1 Si, 16-30 Mn, =950 deg.C, then the steel is allowed to cool. Such billet is heated to 1,150-1,250 deg.C and is then subjected to hot rolling which ends at 950-1,010 deg.C and after holding at an equal temp. for 1-60min at >=800 deg.C or air cooling, the billet is water-cooled down to

    • PURPOSE:To perform titled heat treatment and produce a wire rod of high hardness and high strength by feeding a heated metallic wire rod into the gas of the corresponding hole grooves of a grooved roll and segmental dies and pressing the dies while revolving the roll simultaneously. CONSTITUTION:A grooved roll 1 is revolved in an arrow direction at the speed synchronized with the feed speed of a metallic wire rod 7, and the heated wire rod 7 is inserted into the hole grooves 2, 3 of the roll 1 and segmental dies 4, 4' at the point X. High pressure is loaded upon the wire rod 6 by pressing the dies 4, 4' in the axial center direction of the roll 1, and is released by detaching the dies from the grooves 2, 3 at the point Y to remove pressure. The wire rod 7 loaded with high pressure is quickly cooled by the dies 4, 4' preheated to around a pearlite transformation temp., but since it is loaded with the high pressure, its pearlite transformation is retarded. Thence, at the point of the time when the high pressure is released, the core part and surface layer part of the wire rod 7 cause the transformation almast simutaneously, thereby forming the fine pearlite structure.
