    • PURPOSE:To detect short between electrodes and to detect the leakage of corrosive liquid rapidly by arranging metallic plane electrodes to be corroded by the corrosive liquid to be detected on both the sides of an insulating film having through holes and covering the electrodes with outside insulating bodies having through holes. CONSTITUTION:A pair of plane electrodes 11a, 11b consisting of thin aluminum sheets are arranged on both the sides of the insulating plate 12c having the through holes 13c. The outside insulating plates 12a, 12b are arranged on the outsides of the electrodes 11a, 11b and both the ends are adhered to each other. In addition, the through holes 13a are formed on the insulating plate 12a to constitute a sensor. When the sensor is dipped into hydrochloric acid or the like, the hydrochloric acid is infiltrated into the through holes 13a to corrode the electrode 11a and open holes on the electrode 11a. Then the hydrochloric acid is penetrated into the through holes 12c and then reached the electrode 11b. Consequently, short is generated between the electrodes 11a and 11b. Since the short between the electrodes due to the corrosive liquid can be detected, the leakage of the corrosive liquid can be rapidly and precisely detected.

    • PURPOSE:To achieve a higher reliability, by providing a heating layer which will generate heat getting in contact with a liquid to be detected to lower the photoconductivity of an optical fiber outside the optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:A liquid leak detection sensor 1 is provided with a heating layer 3 which will generate heat by contact of a liquid to be detected to lower the photoconductivity of an optical fiber 2, outside the plastic optical fiber 2, and furthermore, a liquid-permeable cover 6 in which a water repelling paint coated layer 5 is formed on the outer surface of a knitted body 4 made up of a polyester fiber based material is provided. The heating layer 3 which can generate a larger quantity of heat against less liquid leak is advantageous in a higher detection sensitivity. For example, when the liquid to be detected is an alkaline liquid, ammonium slat such as ammonium chloride is preferable in respect of reaction heat. The water repelling coated layer 5 blocks the perme ation of a scattering water, a dew forming water and the like to eliminate the denaturalization of the heating layer 3, thereby enabling the securing of a stable performance for a long time.
