    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rush mat bed component having sufficient material properties obtaining sufficient local compressive force and flexural strength without using a veneer board and excellent in dimensional stability being restrained from warping itself because of little water absorption and moisture absorption by not using the veneer board, and to provide a thin rush mat having excellent characteristics without the generation of a squeak or the possibility of stumbling due to no warping nor a recessed part formed on the surface of the rush mat and moreover restrained from the formation of mold in comparison to the case of using the venner board. SOLUTION: A rush mat bed component 1 used for a rush mat with a total thickness of 7-25 mm is formed by bonding to integrate a plate body 2 with a density of 0.02-0.5 g/cm and a synthetic resin sheet with maximum tear load of 300 gf or more and a thickness of 50-500 μm, so as to have a thickness of 4-20 mm. A cushion layer 4 is arranged on the upper face of the rush mat bed component 1, and a cardboard 10 and lining material 5 are arranged at the lower face. A rush matting 7 and a rush mat-boarder 8 are attached by sewing.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a foam the cross section of which is square or rectangular or nearly rectangular such as oblong shape or the like, and has an excellent uniform compressing strength and utility, in a polystyrene resin extruded foam.
      SOLUTION: In the method, a foaming melt kneaded product formed of polystyrene resin and foaming agent is intermittently extruded from a die orifice provided at the tip end of an accumulator to be foamed in order to produce the foam of which the perpendicular cross sectional shape to the extruding direction is rectangular or nearly rectangular and which has the cross sectional area of 1100 cm
      2 or more, thickness of 16 cm or more, and concentration of not greater than 0.027 g/cm
      3 . The opening shape of the die orifice has a shape forming branched opening which is branched into two at both ends of a slit shape main opening.
