    • PURPOSE: To obtain a filter medium which can sufficiently remove turbidity and is hardly clogged by sticking cationized porous fine particles to a fibrous base material. CONSTITUTION: A filter medium is prepared by sticking cationized porous particles 2 to a fibrous base material 1. The average pore diameter of the porous particles 2 is made 0.001-10μm, and fibers constituting the base material 1 are cationized. Since the filter media, in which the porous particles are stuck to the fibrous base material 1, are arranged to be distributed three-dimensionally keeping an appropriate distance from each other, even when fine particles which cause muddiness are caught by the porous particles, the media are hardly clogged because passages can be secured. Since the porous particles are cathionized, they can adsorb fine particles which pass apart somewhat from them by an ionic adsorption effect, the fine particles can not pass through the filter medium so that muddiness can be removed efficiently.

    • PURPOSE:To control pressure loss while an enough filtration performance being kept by installing a catchment space layer which is formed between filter medium layers by a spacer and penetrates liquid to be treated from the inflow face to the outflow face. CONSTITUTION:Filter medium layers 11, the form of which is maintained by a support 12, are fixed by a spacer 21 which opens a specified gap in order to form a catchment space layer 31 between the support 12 and the filter medium layer 11. Liquid to be treated which flowed into the catchment space layer 31 contacts the exposed surface of the filter medium layer 11. Relatively larger particles, among particles to be caught, are caught on the surface of the filter medium layer 11. Relatively smaller particles are also caught from the liquid which flowed into the filter medium layer 11 from an inflow face S and the catchment space layer 31. Liquid purified by filtration is discharged in the arrow C direction from an outflow face T. In this way, even when the filter medium layer 11 is clogged with particles, a passage can hardly be blocked easily.
