摘要： PURPOSE:To mass-produce 3-hydroxy-solavetivone readily, by inoculating a leaf of a plant of Nicotiana tabacum with a plant virus, and extracting the leaf with an organic solvent after the lapse of a given time. CONSTITUTION:A leaf of a growing plant of Nicotiana tabacum is inoculated with a plant virus, collected after the lapse of a given time, and extracted with an organic solvent to separate and collect 3-hydroxy-solavetivone having the structure of formula I. Nicotiana tabacum cultivar KY-57 of the Hurley type or Nicotiana tabacum cultivar Samsun-NN of the Oriental type may be cited as the plant of Nicotiana tabacum. Tobacco-mosaic virus or tobacco necrosis virus may be used as the plant virus. The leaf after inoculation with the plant virus is frozen at about -20 deg.C or below and then extracted with the organic solvent in an amount of 5 times or more that of the leaf.

摘要： PURPOSE:2-Chloroethylphosphonic acid is coated or spryaed on leaves of Nicotiana tabacum which have been obtained by the cultivation under usual conditions and the leaves are subjected to extraction to produce readily the titled substance showing the excellent effect in the improvement of tobacco flavors. CONSTITUTION:Leaves of Nicotiana tabacum, such as Nicotiana tabacum c.v. Samsun NN, which have been cultivated through usual methods, e.g., in fields or hothouses are coated or sprayed with 2-chloroethylphosphonic acid, preferably in a solution of about 0.001-1M concentration and in an amount of about 5-0.5ml/ one leaf. Then, the leaves are stood for a certain period, usually for 2-7 days until the leaves yellow and the leaves are collected. They are frozen, freeze dried, crushed and extracted with an organic solvent such as methanol or diethyl ether to give a compound of the formula (R is H, COCH3).

摘要： PURPOSE:To prepare solavetivone having excellent effect to improve the taste and flavor of tobacco, specifically, in a large amount, in high yield, by infecting the leaves of Nicotiana tabacum with plant viruses, and extracting the infected leaves with an organic solvent. CONSTITUTION:The leaves of Nicotiana tabacum are infected with plant viruses, by applying or spraying the leaves with the plant viruses suspended in water or in a 0.1M phosphoric acid buffer solution at a concentration of about 0.005-10mug/ml while grinding or scratching the surface of the leaves with an abrasive such as 400-600 mesh carborandum. Usually after 2-5 days from the infection, and when most of the diseased spots of the leaves become larger than 1mm in diameter, the leaves are harvested, freeze-dried in vacuum, and extracted with more than 5 times weight of an organic solvent (e.g. methanol) for two-three times. The extract is concentrated under reduced pressure. The crude solavetivone thus obtained is purified by conventional means such as column chromatography, etc., to obtain an optically active purified solavetivone.
