    • PURPOSE:To economically produce the high grade composite hollow metal cast ingot for production of clad pipe by using a metal mold which has a dummy bar at the top end and a skirt made of refractories at the bottom end and subsequently forming the shells of dissimilar metals on the inside surface thereof. CONSTITUTION:Dissimilar metals, e.g., carbon steel 11 and stainless stell 12 are respectively received in ladles 13, 14 and these are installed on the turntable 15 in a tank 10. Next, the ladle 13 is installed right under a water-cooled metal mold 1 and this is moved upward to dip its refractory skirt 6 into molten metal 11 to push up the molten carbon steel 11 into the metal mold 1 and enclose the dummy bar 2, thereby forming the solidified shell 30 of the specified thickness on the inside surface of the metal mold 1. After this, the unsolidified molten steel is allowed to return into the ladle 13 and the ladle 13 is lowered. Thence, the ladle 14 is moved to right under the metal mold 1 and the operations similar to the above are performed to let the stainless steel 12 secure on the inside surface of the above-mentioned solidified shell 30, thereby forming the solidified shell 31 and obtaining the composite hollow metal ingot.

    • PURPOSE:To produce a composite metallic plate material effectively and remarkably inexpensively by installing a metallic plate for insert material in the prescribed position in a casting mold, and substituting the inside of the casting mold, which is closed tightly except the riser part, with an inert gas then lifting the molten metal of an outside enveloping material into the casting mold from the ladle in the lower part of the casting mold through an immersion pipe. CONSTITUTION:An insert material 1 is set in the prescribed position in a pressure casting mold 3 made of graphite by a hanger 2, the inside surface of which is coated uniformly with an alumina base coating material. The top surface except the very small part of a riser 4 is closed tightly and the inside of the mold 3 is replaced with an inert gas such as Ar in accordance with an ordinary preparatory plan for pressure casting, whereafter prescribed molten metal 8 for the outside circumference is filled quickly by pressure casting in the cavity between the material 1 and the circumference of the casting mold. More specifically, a ladle 5 holding the metal 8 is set in a pressurizing tank 6, and while an immersion tube 7 is held immersed in the metal 8, the tank 6 is pressurized to force the metal 8 into the mold 3. The material which has completed solidification is rolled to a prescribed thickness and in the case of, for example, three layers, the outside metallic part of the circumference is cut, whereby the intended laminar composite metallic material is obtained.

    • PURPOSE:To produce the stable and economical hollow metal cast ingot by dipping the skirt portion made of refractories of mold into molten metal then sucking or pushing up the molten metal in the mold to form a solidified shell and reflowing unfrozen molten metal. CONSTITUTION:After the refractory skirt 2 at the bottom end of a metal mold 1 is dipped in molten metal 10, the inside of the metal mold 1 is immediately evacuated 7 to suck the metal 10 into the metal mold 1. At the top end of the metal 10 having been sucked, a dummy bar 8 is cast and at the same time the metal mold 1 is water-cooled to cause solidification in the lateral direction from its inside surface. After lapse of the specified time, the solidified shell 12 of the metal 10 is pulled by way of the metal mold 1 or dummy bar 8, by which the unsolidified molten metal 13 is returned into a holding ladle 11. On the other hand, the hollow blank which is closed at one end by the cast part of the dummy bar 8 is worked readily to pipe material with a suitable pipe making machine with said sealing part 14 being held attached or after it has been cut away. If a long-length blank is required, the molten metal is pushed up into the metal mold by making use of pressure, by which the solidified shell is formed.
