    • PURPOSE:To reduce the maximum value of a voltage between terminals, by connecting a thyristor anti-parallel connecting body only to two phases of a three-phase AC line, setting a phase current having a slow phase as the first cut-off phase, and cutting off the one having a fast phase after cutting off the one having the slow phase. CONSTITUTION:When three phase currents iR, iS, and iT are cut off by a high voltage AC thyristor control switch 5, first of all, the gate of a thyristor anti-parallel connecting body 31 is blocked at a time of t3, and at the time t4 of the first zero point of a following R-phase current iR, the R-phase current iR is cut off. Next, when the gate of a thyristor anti-parallel connecting body 33 is blocked at a time t4 in the neighborhood of an electrical angle of 90 deg. from a time t4, both the phase currents of S-phase and T-phase iS and iT are cut off at a time t6 (electrical angle of 90 deg. later than the time t4) of the first zero point of following phase currents of S-phase and T-phase iS and iT (=the inverse of iS). Thus, by cutting the R-phase having the phase slower than the T-phase first, setting it as the first cut-off phase, and cutting off the T-phase next, it is possible to minimize comparatively the maximum voltage between terminals applied on the thyristor anti-parallel connecting body after extinction of arc.
