摘要： PURPOSE:To perform efficient separation of isotopes by shifting atoms of an undesired isotope on a level fit for ionization to other level by optical pumping with continuously emitted laser light and then ionizing atoms of a desired isotope with pulsating laser light. CONSTITUTION:When uranium 235 is enriched, U on a level (mainly the ground level) fit for ionization is shifted to other level (mainly the metastable level) by optical pumping with continuously emitted laser light having wavelength lambda0 and then U is ionized with pulsating laser light having wavelengths lambda1, lambda2. Since the amt. of U on the level fit for ionization has been reduced, U can be separated. This method is especially effective in case of a desired isotope having a superfine structure and an undesired isotope having no superfine structure, e.g. in the case of uranium and efficient separation of isotopes can be performed.

摘要： PURPOSE:To inhibit heat conduction by convection and to reduce the cost of energy required to evaporate a molten metal by electron beam or arc image spot heating by adding single crystal particles of a specified high m.p. metal to the molten metal. CONSTITUTION:A water-cooled copper crucible 1 is filled with molten U 2 and single crystal particles 3 of W which does not melt at the evaporation temp. of U and has a higher density than molten U are put in the molten U 2. The particle size of the particles 3 is >=30mum. The evaporating part 5 of the surface of the molten U 2 is heated with an electron beam 4 to evaporate U atoms from the part 5. Since convection from the part 5 to the crucible 1 is inhibited by the particles 3, heat conduction is suppressed and heat input necessary for evaporation is reduced. The particles 3 in the molten U 2 have very high corrosion resistance and maintain the size. Macrocrystalline polycrystal particles of W may be used in place of the single crystal particles 3 of W.

In general, a polymerization forming body to be used for the solid track detector is in plate shape, In this case, a cell is created by sandwiching a thick spacer with two glass plates (in some cases, stainless plate), and a monomer solution (a mixed solution of diethyleneglycolbisalllylcarbonate in an expression I and N-isopropylactrylamide in an expression II) containing a polymerization initiator inside, and then heating and polymerization are made. The polymerization initiator is not limited especially and a general organic peroxide used for radical polymerization can be used. However, peroxydicalbonate oxide is optimum for smoothly polymerizing an allyl group.

Since the potential of the recovery electrode is lower than that of the sheet, the desired isotope ion is recovered by the electrode from the plasma. The ion is recovered by the electrodes on both sides of the plasma at this time, and the ion is recovered in a short time in the case of the impressed voltage as compared with ion recovery by the positive and negative recovery electrodes. A decrease in the isotope ratio due to a charge-exchange reaction is controlled by this device.
