摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a walking-type tiller rationalized with a position on which engine weight is applied, so as to prevent its traction force from declining as a result of a tine shaft's going up when a working implement is attached to the tiller.
SOLUTION: The walking-type tiller of vertical shaft design has the following construction: An engine(2) is set on the upper part of a longitudinal transmission case(1), the inside of which is equipped with a transmission shaft(11) subject to rotary interlocking by the engine(2), the lower end side of the transmission case(1) is equipped with a tilling shaft(12) interlocking with the transmission shaft(11) and arranged with multiple tilling tines(13, 13, ...) on the outer circumference, and a working implement frame(15) mounted on the transmission case(1) is mounted with a ridger(18) and equipped with a handle frame(16) turning rearwardly upward of the machine body. In this tiller, the engine(2) is set in such a manner that its cylinder part(2a) is deviated in front of the vertical axis of the transmission shaft(11) and the tilling shaft(12) is set in a rearwardly deviated manner relative to the vertical axis.

SOLUTION: The walking-type tiller has the following construction: Engines(3 and 61) are loaded in front of and above a machine body mounted with rotary tilling apparatuses(18 and 58), exhaust mufflers(56 and 62) are set in the proximity of the engines respectively, steering handles(11 and 67) are set toward rearwardly and upwardly of the machine body, and the leaves-protective covers(40 and 80) covering the front face and left and right flanks of the machine body are set. In this tiller, the leaves-protective covers(40 and 80) are designed to be slopes(40b and 80b) seen from the top for the portion ranging from the front face to the flanks and the slopes(40b and 80b) are provided with many exhaust gas vent holes(55, 88).
