    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for calibrating electrochemical sensors that continuously monitors and calibrates the sensors included in a system.SOLUTION: This invention includes a method for determining a failure pattern of a sensor and a method for incorporating the ability to recognize the failure pattern and start repair action into an electrochemical sensor system. The method for automatically monitoring the electrochemical sensor system includes: a process for determining a first measured value of the known concentration of an analyte in a first reference solution; a process for determining a second measured value of the known concentration of the analyte in the first reference solution; a process for comparing the known concentration, the first measured value, and the second measured value; and a process for automatically starting correction operation when the first measured value of the analyte is substantially equal to the second measured value of the analyte and the first and second measured values are not substantially equal to the known concentration of the analyte in the first reference solution.

      SOLUTION: The invention also includes a method for determining a failure pattern of a sensor, and a method for incorporating into an electrochemical sensor system, the ability to recognize the failure pattern and initiate remedial action. An automatic monitoring method of the electrochemical sensor system includes processes for: determining a first measured value of a known concentration of an analyte in a first reference solution; determining a second measured value of the known concentration of the analyte in the first reference solution; comparing the known concentration, the first measured value and the second measured value with each other; and starting correction operation automatically, when the first measured value of the analyte is substantially equal to the second measured value of the analyte, and the first and second measured values are not substantially equal to the known concentration of the analyte in the first reference solution.
