    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To hold cathode-inlet and -outlet temperatures inside a fuel cell and a temperature difference between them to be same to conventional cells without cathode recycle, to reduce accessory power thereby to enhance plant efficiency, to reduce pressure loss in a cathode side, to raise oxygen concentration and carbon dioxide concentration required for a reaction, to enhance cell performance, to elongate a service life, and to eliminate a necessity of a heat exchanger for heating or cooling. SOLUTION: This facility is provided with a cooling plate 30 for a fuel cell inside a molten carbonate type fuel cell 22. The cooling plate 30 has a heat receiving space 33b heated by heat transfer from the fuel cell 22, and a preheating space 33a preheated by heat transfer from the heat receiving space 33b. Cathode gas 13 of a low temperature is preheated in the preheating space 33a, and then it is heated in the heat receiving space 33b upto a temperature suitable to the fuel cell 22 to be supplied to the cathode side of the fuel cell 22. For example, temperature difference as a whole is substantially treble by dringing a temperature of a cathode gas supplied to the cooling plate 30 to about 400 deg.C or less, cathode gas volume is reduced to about one third, and cathode gas recycle is substantially eliminated.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce the area required for installing a molten carbonate fuel cell power generating system and also decrease the length of piping communicating apparatus to one another by combining a fuel cell, a reformer, and a natural gas preheater into a module when storing all of them in one box body. CONSTITUTION:In a molten carbonate fuel cell power generating system which uses natural gas as fuel, a fuel cell I, a reformer 4, and a natural gas preheater 3, all of which are main component apparatus, are stored in one box body 20 so that the system becomes compact. The fuel cell I, the reformer 4, and the natural gas preheater 3 all arranged in the vertical direction are communicated to one another by piping and also other piping connected to the fuel cell I and/or the reformer 4 is passed through the box body 20. The area required for installing the system can thus be greatly reduced. Since the fuel cell I, the reformer 4, and the natural gas preheater 3 are disposed close to one another, the length of the piping communicating those apparatus to one another can be decreased.
