    • PURPOSE:To detect positional deviations in two directions utilizing a sensor for unidirectional distance measurement accurately by inserting a set of an X sensor and a Y sensor into two holes as reference provided on a target object and an subject object positioned corresponding thereto. CONSTITUTION:Two separate dummy holes 8 are provided as reference points on a flange 5 as target object and a hole 10 of a somewhat larger diameter is provided on a flange 6 as subject object positioned corresponding thereto to insert a detection head 11 thereinto. A plurality of sensors 12 and 13 for measuring positions separately in the directions X and Y are mounted on the head 11 and an ultrasonic wave fed from the sensors 12 and 13 are detected in the quantity received with a detector 14 being refected on the flange 5. Therefore, positioning is possible by moving the flange 6 so as to nulify the difference in the detection value and positional deviations in two directions can be detected non- contact quickly utilizing a simple sensor for unidirectional distance measurement.
