摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a wear resistant polyethylene medical implant.SOLUTION: The method includes: a step of forming a medical implant made at least partially of ultra high molecular weight polythylene (UHMWPE) such as an orthopedic implant. The polyethylene may be irradiated with gamma ray or e-beam radiation to form free radicals and then crosslinked to eliminate the free radicals prior to exposure to oxygen. The so treated bearing surface of the crosslinked polyethylene is then coated with a photoinitiator. Thereafter the bearing material is photocrosslinked with ultra-violet (UV) radiation. The hotocrosslinking process can also be applied to non-crosslink UHMWPE.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-speed spraying technique for a medical implant component which offers a desired material to at least one part of a substrate surface of the component of the medical implant component and so on. SOLUTION: This method includes a step which arranges a component on a holding fixture which can hold the component at normal pressures or nearly normal pressures and a step which sprays a desired material particle at a given high speed toward at least one part of a substrate surface so that a material layer can be accumulated in at least one part of the substrate surface. Spray coating is performed at normal pressures or nearly normal pressures. A desired material may be a reactive type material of titanium or its alloy and so on.
