    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a combustion chamber structure of an internal combustion engine, which reduces a heat loss to a piston to enhance heat efficiency without a reduction of mixing performance of a fuel spray with air.
      SOLUTION: This combustion chamber structure of the engine E constitutes a reentrant type combustion chamber 10 where a cavity 5e faces a cylinder head 3, by forming the cavity 5e reducing its diameter orthogonal to the cylinder axis X direction toward the opening end 5f side, on the top surface 5a of the piston 5 slidably fitted in a cylinder 4. A plurality of dimples 11 running along a flow of a combustion air-fuel mixture are formed on the conical wall surface 5d side more than the maximum diameter part 5m of the cavity 5e in a circular arc cross-sectional wall surface 5c among an inner wall surface for defining the combustion chamber 10 in the piston 5.
