    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stop control device of an internal combustion engine capable of stopping its piston accurately in a prescribed position in accordance with an amount of fuel remaining in a cylinder when the engine is stopped.
      SOLUTION: The stop control device 1 of the internal combustion engine 3 controls a throttle valve 13a into a closed side when an ignition SW 21 is turned off, and then controls the valve 13a into an opened side when engine speed NE becomes lower than a first stage control start speed NEICOFPRE (see Figs.5 and 6). As a pre-stop fuel injection amount TCYLIGOF becomes large, the NEICOFPRE and a target stop control starting speed NEICOFREFX are corrected to a smaller side (Steps 31 and 32), and thereby a piston 3d is stopped in the prescribed position accurately in accordance with the amount of the fuel remaining in the cylinder 3a when the engine 3 is stopped.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus to control an internal combustion engine capable of maintaining stable combustion by preventing adhesion of carbon on an ignition plug of a deactivated cylinder due to a cylinder deactivation operation with a relatively simple method.SOLUTION: When a cylinder deactivation operation is performed, a cylinder deactivation counter CCSPLUG calculates a count value corresponding to an integrated value of a deactivation time of a cylinder. When the value of the cylinder deactivation counter CCSPLUG is equal to or larger than a two-cylinder deactivation inhibition threshold CCS2PLUGH, a two-cylinder deactivation operation is inhibited, and when the value of the cylinder deactivation counter CCSPLUG is equal to or larger than a three-cylinder deactivation inhibition threshold CCSPLUGH, the two-cylinder deactivation operation and a three-cylinder deactivation operation are inhibited (S51-S54). The count value of the cylinder deactivation counter CCSPLUG is held after an engine 1 stops. In starting the operation next time, the integration by the cylinder deactivation counter CCSPLUG is performed using the held count value as an initial value.
