    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide organic clay capable of obtaining sufficient dispersion performance, in a state where the distance between layers in organic clay with a layered crystal structure is sufficiently widened, by easily intercalating therein, and to provide its manufacturing method.
      SOLUTION: After a dehydration stage where the distance between crystal layers in organic clay is sufficiently widened, namely, before a drying stage, a resin additive, e.g. either one or a combination among a flame retarder, an ultraviolet absorber, a nucleating agent, a heavy metal deactivator, an organic blowing agent and a lubricant dissolved or dispersed into an organic solvent is added and mixed in advance, and is intercalated between the crystal layers, and drying and pulverizing are performed, so that the organic clay in which a new compound is intercalated is obtained.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an organic clay which has a laminar crystal structure, has sufficiently widened interlayer distances and facilitates the intercalation of new organic compounds, and to provide a method for producing the same.
      SOLUTION: This organic clay is produced by inserting a middle molecular polymer between crystal layers. Concretely, a semi-dried organic clay is mixed with the middle molecular polymer preliminarily dissolved in an organic solvent and then dried and crushed to obtain the organic clay facilitating the intercalation of a new organic compound. The method for producing the same is also disclosed.

      SOLUTION: A half-dried cristobalite-containing organic clay is mixed with a silane compound optionally dissolved in an organic solvent such as methanol, ethanol or acetone, and a prepared mixture is dried and pulverized. Alternatively, a cristobalite-containing aqueous clay dispersion is mixed with an organic cation, and a silane compound preliminarily dissolved in an organic solvent, and a prepared mixture is dried and pulverized to produce the objective heat-resistant white easily-dispersible organic clay.
