    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a demagnetizing device and a demagnetizing method of a magnetic recording medium which are satisfactory in demagnetization efficiency and simple in configuration.
      SOLUTION: In the demagnetizing device provided with a pair of permanent magnet rows 3a and 3b each formed by arranging a plurality of permanent magnets in a row and a guide 2 on which the magnetic recording medium 1 abuts and runs, the pair of permanent magnet rows 3a and 3b are disposed opposite to each other; magnetic poles of the permanent magnets forming the pair of permanent magnet rows 3a and 3b are disposed so that alternate magnetic fields where the directions of the magnetic fields are repetitively reversed in the row directions of the permanent magnet rows 3a and 3b are formed, and the pair of permanent magnet rows 3a and 3b are disposed so that the interval between the pair of permanent magnet rows 3a and 3b are made wider as the permanent magnet rows advances from an upstream side to a downstream side of a conveyance direction of the magnetic recording medium 1.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a demagnetizing device capable of well demagnetizing even a magnetic recording medium having a high coercive force.SOLUTION: In a demagnetizing device, multiple permanent magnets are disposed in a circumferential direction on each of rotary plates which face each other and rotate in synchronization with each other, and the rotary plates are made to rotate to generate alternate magnetic fields and, thus, a magnetic recording medium is demagnetized. Also, the permanent magnets disposed on each of the rotary plates with facing each other are disposed in a manner of alternate same poles and different poles facing each other, and the direction of magnetic lines of force in each portion of same pole facing parts and different pole facing parts is alternately in reverse.
