      SOLUTION: This elevator counterweight frame structure includes a pair of vertical frames 2a, 2b, an upper plate 4 installed above the vertical frames, and a lower plate 5 installed below the vertical frames, and is formed with a storage section 6 for the weight W between the opposed vertical frames. The vertical frames are formed by bending a steel plate. The upper plate is composed of leg portions 4a, 4b extending to the vertical frames and a horizontal portion 4c formed integrally with the leg portions and spanned between the leg portions. An installation space 9 with its three sides surrounded by the leg portions and horizontal portion is formed above the storage section.
