      SOLUTION: At the time of light load, the inductor current is detected, by using a second CR smoothing filter; and when a determination is made that the load is light, upper and lower power MOSFETs and a PWM oscillator are turned off, to set a sleep mode. When the output voltage drops to reach the lower limit threshold of a transient variation detecting circuit, the upper power MOSFET is turned on to recover the output voltage; and when the output voltage reaches a predetermined level, the upper power MOSFET is turned off and sets the mode to the sleep mode again.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve efficiency during a light load by changing the operation timing of synchronous rectifier switches on the secondary side without complicating the power circuit in the power-supply device of an insulated DC-DC converter.
      SOLUTION: Arm switches MH1-MH4 of a full bridge circuit 10 and synchronous rectifier switches ML1 and ML2 of a rectifying and smoothing circuit 20 are subjected to ON/OFF control by a control circuit with a timing variable device, and energy stored in the rectifying and smoothing circuit 20 is returned back to the full bridge circuit 10 so that it acts equivalently to the increased output current Io during the light load thus increasing the current flowing to the full bridge circuit 10.
