Passage parts 18a, 19a of the retard oil passage and the advance oil passage are formed in an interior of a passage component 37 inserted into and held in a cylindrical support part 15a of a vane rotor 15, and seal members 41a, 41b carrying out sealing between an opening end of each passage part and inner circumference faces of the support member are fit into and fixed to a front and a rear of an outer circumference face of the passage component.

The lock pin 46 is provided in such a manner that it is supported to move forward and backward along a pin shaft direction and to rotate around the pin shaft by a support surface 50 of a first engagement surface formed on the body 20, and is provided in such a manner that it engages with a second engagement part formed on the vane 26. A butting surface 52 butting on the lock pin 46 when the vane 26 rotates in the retarding direction is formed on the second engagement part, inclined to the pin shaft. A butted surface 58 opposed to the butting surface 52 and inclined to the pin shaft is formed on the lock pin 46.
