      SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner has a suction opening having an opening facing a surface to be cleaned, a brush chamber provided on the opening side of the suction opening, an electric blower, the rotating shaft of which is arranged in parallel with the longitudinal direction of the suction opening, and a dust chamber. In an air passage communicatively connecting the dust chamber and the electric blower, the entrance side central axis of the air passage is arranged nearer the brush chamber side than the central axis parallel with the longitudinal direction of the suction opening of the dust chamber.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the aerodynamic performance of an impeller by providing a blade and a mount hole on the surface of a front plate having a suction port, which surface is opposed to a rear plate having a mount hole for inserting the drive shaft of an electric motor, and mounting the front plate and the rear plate one over another on the drive shaft through each mount hole. SOLUTION: A front plate 52 has a suction port 51, and a thick part 53A for enhancing the mechanical strength is formed in the center of a rear plate 53. Further, the front plate 52 has a blade 54 and an air discharge port 55, and a disc-like mount plate 56 is integrally formed on the suction port side of each blade 54. A mount hole to be mounted on the rotating shaft 26 of an electric motor is formed in the center of the front plate 52. The front plate 52, the blade 54 and the mount plate 56 are integrally formed by injection molding, and assembled to the electric motor together with the rear plate 53, whereby the air resistance and noise resulted from a caulking projection can be reduced. Since the blade 54 is closely connected to the rear plate 53, the aerodynamic performance of the electric blower can be improved.
