    • PURPOSE: To produce a brake having high reliability and excellent durability by using an alloyed cast iron with specific metallic structure for a rotor rotating in connection with a driver, a pad sliding with this rotor and controlling its rotation, etc. CONSTITUTION: In a brake controlling the rotation of a rotor 2 rotating at high speed in a drive mechanism, e.g. of various vehicles, by means of the friction due to the mutual pressurization between the rotor 2 and a pad 5 sliding on its surface, the rotor 2 or the pad 5 in a braking body sliding with a mating material composed, e.g. of ferrous, organic, or coppery material is made of alloyed cast iron. This alloyed cast iron has a composition containing, by weight, 3-4% C, 0.5-2.0% P, 1.0-2.5% Cr, and 1.5-4.0% Ni, and further, in its metallic structure in the sliding surface, graphite phase, pearlier phase, and 5-20% area ratio, in total, of steadite phase and cementite phase are precipitated into network state and also the ratio of the total area of steadite phase and cementite phase to the area of graphite phase is regulated to 0.5-2.0. By this method, the brake, having high friction coefficient, superior wear resistance, long service life, and excellent reliability and capable of miniaturization, can be obtained.

    • PURPOSE:To make light an emergency stopping device by fixing a reaction force supporting member to an elevator cage, and supporting the emergency stopping device by the reaction force supporting member. CONSTITUTION:An emergency stopping device 16 is borne by a frame member constituting a cage through a reaction force supporting member 17. The reaction force supporting member 17 is formed from a thick plate having a stiffness good sustaining a larger brake load, and the sides of the member 17 are fixed to frame members 6A, (6B) of the lower framing by bolt in the condition that the oversurface is contacted with the bottom of a floor frame 8. The emergency stopping device 16 is supported at the bottom of the supporting member 17 fixed in the described manner. That is, a coupling member 18 made from a thin plate is secured danglingly by bolt to the undersurface of the member 17. A supporting member 20A made from thin plate is coupled by bolt 20Ab with the dangling end of the coupling member 18. Thereby the brake load Wb acting on the member 17 can be received dispersedly by the cage. the device 16 can be constructed with a small weight.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent a wheel or the like from being dropped in of a wheelchair by connecting an engaging device to a lock device by a link, and freely setting a position of the engaging device simultaneously with providing a connecting sill, in a gate door of an elevator having the engaging device and the lock device associated with this engaging device. CONSTITUTION:This engaging device in a gate door comprises a fixed side roller 2 and a movable side roller 1, to drive a link 4 through a lever 3 by moving the movable side roller 1 and to perform unlocking by moving a lock lever 5. Accordingly, by changing a length of the link 4, a position of the engaging device can be arbitrarily set. By forming the engaging device thus settable to an arbitrary position, a position of an assist sill 7 can be set to gate both end parts, thus to prevent a wheel of a wheelchair from being dropped in. The assist sill 7 is mounted so as to prevent its collision against both the rollers 1, 2.
