      SOLUTION: A magnetic disk 10 wherein data loss time of an encryption key data recording region 32 is shorter than that of a user data recording region 30 is used, user data are recorded in the magnetic disk 10 while the user data are encrypted and encryption key data used for encryption are recorded in the encryption key data recording region 32 upon recording, and when user data are reproduced by a user having proper access authority, encryption key data are read out from the encryption key data recording region 32, user data encrypted upon recording are outputted while being decoded using the encryption key data formed by encryption key data and encryption key data are overwritten on the encryption key data recording region 32.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the reduction of a capacity in the case that there is a defective track concerning a method for narrowing a track width by partially overwriting an adjacent track and performing collective updating concerning a data updating unit composed of a plurality of the tracks for enhancing the capacity of a disk device.
      SOLUTION: Track groups having two kinds of track widths, i.e., shingled tracks (ST) and tiled tracks (TT) are assigned to a zone. At first, the zone is divided into two areas, i.e., an ST area and a spare track or a TT area. When the defective track is detected in the ST area in a step 410, it is checked whether there is a room in the spare track or the TT area in a step 420. When the room exists, an area is shifted from the spare track or the TT area to the ST area in a step 421. When the termination of the assignment of the ST is confirmed in a step 440, the TT is assigned to the spare track or the TT area which is remained in steps after the step 442.
