    • PURPOSE:To scan a probing contact in a truckless manner and at least in a two dimentional manner, by means of a drive gear wherein tractor trucks each, consisting of a plural number of magnetic substances coupled together, are mounted at both sides of the drive gear. CONSTITUTION:A running member 21 is constituted such that a plural number of magnetic members forms a close loop so that it can run in a manner to firmly adhere to a surface of a drum part 1, and tractor trucks, mounted to both sides of a drive gear 16, are rotatively driven through driving rollers 50 and 51 from a motor. A test along a longitudinal weld line 10 is performed through the forward and backward movement of the drive gear 16 with the tractor trucks 35 operated. A test along a peripheral weld line 11 is conducted by changing the advancing direction of the running member 21 and running the drive gear 16. A scanning, being perpendicular to a weld line, is performed through movement of a probing contact 15 into an arm 29 held by an arm 33 extensing from the driving gear 16. The moving distance of the drive gear 16 is obtained as a position information by converting the number of revolutions of the motor into a pulse signal by means of an encoder.

    • PURPOSE:To enable a safe return of an ultrasonic flaw detector for unclear reactor at a time when a power source is disconnected, by a method wherein a device, which runs in a vertical and horizontal direction, is caused to run in only the vertical direction at a low speed by setting a brake a time when the power source is disconnected. CONSTITUTION:A running device, provided with an ultrasonic flaw detector for inspection of a weld at a nuclear reactor, is caused to run in a horizontal direction at a high speed by means of a pinion 22, driven from a motor 16, and a rack 8 on a horizontal track 6. When a turn table 9 for converting a direction switches a direction, the running device is made to run in a vertical direction at a high speed through the driving, of a pinion 21, engaging a rack 7 on a vertical track 5, by means of a motor 15 coupled to a brake 17 consisting of a reduction gear. Thus constitution allows the running device to run at a low speed in only the vertical direction through the working of the brake 17 at a time when a power source is disconnected, and enables the safe return of the running device to a starting point through the use of a wire and the like. Additionally, through the use of only a pair of the motors coupled to a brake, a power can be transferred to a pinion, for use with horizontal running, through a clutch, and this also permits achieving of the same purpose.

    • PURPOSE:To enlarge the range of application of flaw detection to the welded part of piping without necessity of skill in inspection by a constitution wherein scanning of a probe is operated manually and the scanned position can be measured antomatically. CONSTITUTION:When a probe holder 9 is operated manually corresponding to a scanned position for flaw detection, a guide arm 6 is rolled out freely from an arm roll-up device 10. And, a rotary encoder 11 for detecting length detects the quantity of the length thereof and measures the position of a probe automatically. Meanwhile, the arm 6 conducting the scanning for flaw detection in the direction of circumference, while moving in the direction of length, turns in that direction together with a driving device 4'. The angle of its turn is detected by a potentiometer 17 for detecting angle retained by a support block 16 fitted to a truck 15. Moreover, the position of the driving device 4' on a rail 3 is detected and calculated by a rotary encoder 19. Since the scanned position on a complex curved pipe is detected automatically in this way, the range of application of the flaw detection can be enlarged without necessity of the higher skill in inspection.

    • PURPOSE:To enable ultrasonic flaw detecting in good efficiency and preciseness, by a method wherein an ultrasonic probe is held by a gimbal and this gimbal is supported in a freely accessible manner along a direction pressing the ultrasonic probe to the outer surface of a nozzle. CONSTITUTION:An ultrasonic probe 2 is held by a gimbal 3 while this gimbal 3 is supported by a support member 6 in a freely accessible manner along a direction pressing the probe 2 to the outer surface 1 of a nozzle. That is, for example, an air cylinder is used as this support member 6 and, therefor, the gimbal 3 is made freely accessible to a doubled arrow A, A' (a direction along the pressing direction of the probe 2). By this constitution as mentioned above, the ultrasonic probe can be scanned so as to be stably pressed to the outer surface of the nozzle in an almost vertical direction and ultrasonic detection can be carried out in good efficiency and preciseness.

Supersonic flaw detection unit is made to move freely against the moving body 42 around the axle 45 and right-angled direction axle 49 which are set in the supporting section 46 to which axle 45 is fitted as integral part. In said system, even when the pipe 1 has a bent surface, detection unit does not float above the pipe surface, thus making it possible to conduct perfect flaw detection of a given area including a bent surface, etc.
