    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection liquid crystal display device which uses a liquid crystal panel where a blue phase liquid crystal showing two or more reflection peak wavelengths in a visible wavelength region is held, to improve responsiveness of liquid crystal while reducing the number of components. SOLUTION: The projection liquid crystal display device includes the liquid crystal panel having a liquid crystal layer which has optical isotropy during no voltage application and has optical anisotropy during voltage application to change the reflectance, and a light source for supplying light to the liquid crystal panel and reflects and projects the light from the light source by the liquid crystal panel to display an image. The liquid crystal layer shows a first reflection peak wavelength and a second reflection peak wavelength in the visible wavelength region when a voltage is applied, and the light source supplies a first light source spectrum corresponding to the first reflection peak wavelength and a second light source spectrum corresponding to the second reflection peak wavelength to the liquid crystal panel independently of each other.
