The control circuit produces a first frame with a higher grayscale than a grayscale of the image data to be displayed and a second frame with a lower grayscale than the grayscale of the image data, and alternately displays the first frame and the second frame. The backlight is controlled to light by each lighting region of the backlight according to the display contents of the liquid crystal display panel.
