    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a flicker appearing on the entire surface by providing a liquid crystal panel with a plurality of dummy pixels.
SOLUTION: The plurality of dummy pixels 21 are formed outside a display area 14 on a TFT array substrate 1, and a photodiode 31 is provided in each dummy pixel 21. Cathode sides of all photodiodes are connected to one storage capacitor Cp. When the storage capacitor Cp is precharged and then all the photodiodes are exposed, precharged electric charges leak through the respective photodiodes. The voltage across the storage capacitor Cp is measured a specified time later, and then the total amount of currents flowing through all the photodiodes is known. The total amount of the currents, i.e. the voltage drop across the storage capacitor Cp is proportional to a mean photodetection quantity of all the photodiodes and detected to know mean luminance of the entire surface of the display area 14. Mean luminances when a positive voltage is applied to a liquid crystal element 32 of a dummy pixel 21 and a negative voltage is applied are compared with each other to detect flicker intensity.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate moving image blurring and to enhance moving image performance in a spontaneous emission element display device which inputs a triangular wave signal after writing of a data signal from a data line and controls emission time by a comparison result between data signal voltage and the triangular wave signal. SOLUTION: In a spontaneous emission element display display control part 6 corresponding to a moving image, the triangular wave signal 9 corresponding to the moving image to be at a voltage fixed level during ano optional period is generated, in the spontaneous emission element display 21, emission and non-emission are controlled from a result by comparing size of signal voltage written according to input display data 4 by a data line driving means 15 and the triangular wave signal 9 corresponding to the moving image. The fixed level of the triangular wave signal corresponding to the moving image is considered as a level in which the spontaneous emission element display 21 becomes non-emission irrespective of the signal voltage.
