    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display provided with a backlight wherein an electrode supporting material can be reliably disposed on a base plate side without incurring thermal expansion.
      SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display is provided with a liquid crystal display panel and the backlight disposed on the rear face of the liquid crystal display panel. The backlight is constituted of a plurality of bar-shaped light sources provided side by side in a plane opposed to the liquid crystal display panel and the base plate supporting the bar-shaped light sources via electrode fittings at its electrode parts. The electrode fittings supporting the electrode parts corresponding to the bar-shaped light sources are provided on the electrode supporting material extended in the direction in which the bar-shaped light sources are provided side by side. The electrode supporting material has a part fixed to the base plate side in at least one part of parts along its extended direction and parts covered by protrusion parts fixed to the base plate side in the other parts.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device improving reliability of electric connection between electrodes of rod-like light sources and electrode metal fittings even when there is variation in diameter of the rod-like light source disposed in a backlight.
      SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device comprises: a liquid crystal display panel; and a backlight arranged on the back surface of the liquid crystal display device, wherein the backlight is composed of: the plurality of rod-like light sources which are arranged side by side in a plane facing the liquid crystal display panel; and a base which supports the respective rod-like light sources on the electrodes via the electrode metal fittings, wherein the electrode metal fittings are provided with a pair of pressing parts which press circumferential lateral surfaces of the electrodes of the rod-like light sources from the opposite side, and the respective pressing parts are made of circular shapes which provide concave surfaces to the circumferential lateral surfaces of the electrodes of the rod-like light sources and are configured so as to press the electrodes of the rod-like light sources via protrusions formed on the concave surfaces.
