    • PURPOSE:To improve adhesiveness and wear resistance by providing an org. photoconductive layer in which an alkyl etherified melamine.formamide resin is used as a binder for a photoconductive material. CONSTITUTION:A coating liquid for forming an electric charge generating layer is prepd. by dispersing and dissolving the charge generating layer, resin, additives, etc. to an org. solvent such as tetrahydrofuran, etc. and is coated on a conductive substrate and is dried to form the charge generating layer. Separately, a coating liquid is prepd. by dissolving a charge transfer material, alkyl etherified melamine.formaldehyde resin alone or a resin which can cure by reacting with said resin and various additives into an org. solvent and is coated on the charge generating layer and is dried to laminate the charge transfer layer thereon. An electrophotographic sensitive body is thus formed. The conductive substrate having a conductive layer which is of OMEGAcm is adequate as the conductive base.

CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive body is formed by successively laminating on the conductive substrate the charge transfer layer contg. an electron donor as the charge transfer material, the charge generating layer contg. a charge generating org. pigment, such as tau, tau', eta or eta' type metal-free phthalocyanine, and the protective layer, and this layer is made of the hardened film of a butyl-etherified melamine-formaldehyde resin having a number average mol.wt. of >=1,500, 2-4 bonded formaldehyde groups and 1-2 methylol groups per one melamine ring. The photosensitive body using such the hardened film of the melamine-formaldehyde resin as the protective layer has superior electrophotographic characteristics, good dark decay resistance, and high sensitivity, especially to light of 800nm wavelength, and it can be applied to LBP provided with diode laser, having an oscillating wavelength region in the near IR region, and it has superior abrasion resistance, too.
