    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module and a cable with the optical module of which a bending diameter of an optical fiber housed in a case can be made larger.SOLUTION: An optical module includes: a substrate 6 provided in a case 4 and having a fixing part 5 for fixing an end of an optical fiber 3 extending from a cable 2 to inside of the case 4; an electric connector 7 provided on the substrate 6 and electrically connected to a receptacle of external electrical appliances; and an optical element 8 mounted on the substrate 6, and electrically connected to the electric connector 7, while optically connected to a core of the optical fiber 3 fixed on the fixing part 5. The optical fiber 3 extending into the case 4 is wound along inner walls of the case 4 at the peripheral edge of the substrate 6, and the fixing part 5 is disposed at an off-centered position in a width direction of the case 4.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module and a cable with the optical module capable of storing extra length of a ribbon fiber in a case and connecting the ribbon fiber to a flexible substrate without twisting the ribbon fiber.SOLUTION: The optical module includes: an electric connector 13 which is provided at an end of a substrate 12 so as to be exposed from a case 11 to the outside and is to be electrically connected to a receptacle of an external electric device; and a flexible substrate 16 which is mounted on the substrate 12 through an FPC connector 14, is connected to an end of a ribbon fiber 15, and which includes an optical waveguide 19 on one surface of the flexible substrate. The flexible substrate 16 has a vertical part 21 formed by bending an end opposite to the FPC connector 14 in a vertical direction relative to a surface of the substrate 12, and the ribbon fiber 15 is connected to the vertical part 21.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cable with photoelectric conversion module that can increase the bend radius of an optical fiber in a case.SOLUTION: A fiber ribbon 46 has an annular part 70 extending in an outer case so as to surround a photoelectric conversion element. Between the lateral wall of an inner case positioned at both sides of the photoelectric conversion element and the lateral wall of the outer case, an optical fiber insertion space where the annular part is inserted is provided. Also, the lateral wall of the inner case is provided with an insertion hole which connects the optical fiber insertion space to the inside of the inner case and to which the annular part is inserted.
