The end of the commutation overlapping period of the inverter is determined from the output value of the primary delay filter device, and position estimation is performed by determining whether a terminal voltage in the non-conducting phase of the permanent magnet motor 2 has exceeded a conduction mode switching threshold after the end of the commutation overlapping period. In this way, the non-conducting phase of the inverter 1 is set from the result of the position estimation.

The phase of the AC voltage has a first component increasing to the magnetic-pole position of the motor and a second component changing in synchronization with the variation.
