    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a four-fold helical impact drill shaft for an impact drill which has an optimal feature for use with a hand tool device. SOLUTION: The rotating impact drill with a four-fold helical drill shaft 3 whose cross dimension is shaped four-fold rotation symmetrical and mirror symmetrical, wherein a helical rackrail 4 protruding radially from a groove base surface 5 to an enveloping radius H is configured convex while an area from a nodal area 7 with a rail width S to the groove base surface 5 is configured concave. Most preferably, an incircle 8 drawn in the cross dimension of the helical drill shaft 3 has an inscribed radius I which is 1/3 to 2/3 of the enveloped radius H wherein the nodal area 7 is disposed on a radius R within a range of 1/2 to 2/3 of the enveloped radius H, and the groove base surface 5 has a radius N within a range of 1/3 to 2/3 of the enveloped radius H.
