    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a spacer so that branched cables from a multicore cable can be fixed to the spacer that is used for the multicore cable. SOLUTION: The spacer 1, which has press-contacted surfaces 27, 28 to the cable and press-contacted surfaces 25, 26 to a support body, provided parallel to the cable and is used for fixing the cable to the support body, comprises facing end walls 11, 12 at both ends of a shaft portion 10. The peripheral surface on the facing end walls has top surface portions 13, 14 and bottom surface portions that are mutually separated, in parallel, and both portions, and that press-contact the surfaces 25, 26, 27, 28. The inside surface of the facing end walls, has grooves 37a, 37b, 38a, 38b each being U-shaped shaped, and the inner end portions of the grooves, through-holes 41a, 41b, 42a, 42b that communicate with the inner surfaces 21, 22 and the outer ones 23, 24 of the facing end walls.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a support device that facilitates parallel spaced array of a plurality of coated optical fibers. SOLUTION: The support device 1 for supporting a plurality of coated optical fibers 102 in a parallel spaced array is formed from a flexible elastic material. The support device 1 is provided with a plurality of adjacent coated fiber storing sections 11. The coated fiber storing sections 11 are surrounded with a pair of opposing sidewalls 12, a bottom part 13 connected to the pair of sidewalls 12, and a top part 14 interposed between the pair of side walls 12 and facing opposite the bottom part 13, wherein the coated optical fibers 102 can be stored inside of these parts 11, 12, 13, 14. The top part 14 has a first top 14R, extending from one of the side walls 12 toward an intermediate part therebetween and a second top 14L, extending from the other of the side walls 12 toward the intermediate part. The first and second free ends 17R, 17L of the first and second tops 14R, 14L are deformed elastically, with the mutual distance of separation widened, which enables the coated optical fibers 102 to be made to advance from between these free ends 17R, 17L into the coated fiber storing sections 11.
