The blepharostat as a whole is formed as an integrally molded article of resin and keeps the eyelids open by the spring resilience of the arm. Each eyelid pressing part is formed of a curved plate of U-shaped cross section having an inside insertion piece 12a inserted inside the eyelid, and an outside pressing piece 12b pressing the outside of the eyelid. The length Lb of the outside pressing piece is set to be longer than the length La of the inside insertion piece. The thickness of the curved plate of U-shaped cross section constituting the eyelid pressing part 12 changes to be gradually thinner toward both tip parts from the U-shaped curved part which is the root side.

The engaging part has an engagement structure, which engages the cord-like body 40a for fixing the lens-holding body to the surface of the eyeball so as to clamp the lens-holding body, and a turn-back part 58 at the tip of the engaging part for preventing the cord-like body from coming off.
