    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the optimum device layout by which the decreasing effect of temperature difference in the width direction by cooling a sheet is correctly measured and evaluated and to provide a rolling mill and a rolling method by which the shape of the sheet in the state of room temperature is made into a desired shape of the sheet even in the case the temperature difference remains in the width direction. SOLUTION: The rolling mill is provided with: a shape detector 15a for measuring the shape distribution of the sheet on the outlet side of work rolls 11; temperature measuring instruments 21a for measuring the temperature distribution of the sheet in the width direction between the work roll and the shape detector; devices 23a for jetting a coolant on the surfaces of a rolled stock between the work roll and the temperature measuring instrument; wiping devices 24a for removing the coolant on the surfaces of the rolled stock between the coolant jetting device and the temperature measuring instrument; a device 16 for calculating deviation from the target shape in the state of the room temperature on the basis of the measured values of the shape detector and the temperature measuring instrument; devices 17-19 for controlling the shape of the sheet by calculating the controlled variables of mechanical control means 31-33 and the work roll cooling means 20 on the basis of the deviation; and a device 22a for controlling the state of jetting of the coolant jetting device on the basis the measured value of the temperature instrument.     • PURPOSE:To skilfully control the flatness of plate stock by measuring the shape distribution in the width direction of the stock, obtaining its envelope, controlling mechanical correcting means of a rolling mill by this envelope and correcting parts having a difference between the shape distribution and the envelope through roll temperature control. CONSTITUTION:This is a shape controller for a rolling mill having groups 9, 10 of coolant nozzles composed of many nozzles which are arranged in parallel in the axial direction of operation rolls and can adjust flow rate independently and a mechanical means for correcting the shape. It provides a shape detector 8 which is provided on the outlet side of the rolling mill and measures the shape distribution in the width direction of the stock. An envelope which circumscribes or inscribes the measured distribution of shape in the width direction is obtained and the mechanical means for correcting the shape (roll benders) 16, 17, 18 are controlled by using a pattern into its width direction. By obtaining difference between the shape distribution in the width direction of the stock and the envelope, and controlling the flow rate of coolant nozzle groups 9, 10 with using the width direction pattern of the difference, coolant control high in responsiveness can be performed. By this method, the time for generating the shape correction effect can be shortened and the yield of a rolled part can be improved.
