    • PURPOSE:To enable the correct plate thickness control having high control gain by taking into consideration the transfer time of the stock to be rolled upto the plate thickness detector from rolling mill and by taking up the detected signal transmitted from each detector in the same timing into the arithmetic circuit. CONSTITUTION:The finite difference DELTASA in the rolling reduction position SA of a rolling reduction device 3 and reference rolling reduction position SAO and the finite difference DELTAPA in the rolling load PA detected by a rolling load detector 14 and reference rolling load PAO are stored respectively to data delay devices 15, 16. The stock 1 to be rolled which was subjected to a caliber rolling by a rolling roll 2 is detected by a plate thickness detector 11 after the transfer time (r) and the thickness error DELTAhA in the detected thickness hA and the target value h* is inputted into an arithmetic circuit 17. In this case the finite difference DELTASA, DELTAPA are inputted into the arithmetic circuit 17 is the same timing by the data delay devices 15, 16. The arithmetic circuit 17 calculates a mill constant K and reference rolling reduction position error DELTAS*M by the prescribed equation from the uptake data signal. the finite difference DELTAPA is corrected with the feed back of the mill constant K to the correction circuit and the rolling reduction position is corrected with the feedback of the reference rolling reduction position error DELTAS*M to the rolling reduction device 3.

    • PURPOSE:To segment a character area from a character picture of large noise without error by discriminating the area, where the sum total value of histogram values of picture elements is maximum, out of areas, each of which consists of continuous picture elements which include a reference picture element and whose number corresponds to the size of a character, as the character area. CONSTITUTION:The character picture is divided to picture elements to convert it to a binary picture, and the picture element histogram of the binary picture is generated, and one of picture elements in the binary picture included in a reference area is defined as the reference picture element of the character area. The area where the sum total value of histogram values of picture elements is maximum out of areas consisting of continuous picture elements which include the reference picture element and whose number corresponds to the size of a character is discriminated as the character area. Thus, an area deviated from the true character area is prevented from being discriminated as the character area, and discrimination of the character area is not affected though the noise having a histogram value larger than that of the character area exists near the character area.

    • PURPOSE:To enable the correct plate thickness control having high control gain of a monitor system by considering the moving time of the stock to be rolled from a rolling mill up to a plate thickness detector and by taking up the detected signal transmitted from each detector into arithmetic circuit at the same timing. CONSTITUTION:In case of performing a caliber rolling of the stock 1 to be rolled by rolling 2 the finite difference DELTASA in the rolling reduction position SA of a rolling reduction device 3 and reference rolling reduction positions SA and the finite difference DELTAP4 in the rolling load PA detected by rolling load detector 14 and reference rolling load PAO are detected. The finite differences DELTASA, DELTAPA thereof are stored in data delay device 15, 16 by detecting on each fixed rolling and outputted to arithmetic circuit 17 after the transfer time (r) from the rolling of the stock 1 to be rolled upto a plate thickness detector 11 as well. The plate thickness error DELTAhA obtd. from the plate thickness hA detected by the detector 11 and plate thickness target value h* is therefore inputted to the arithmetic circuit simultaneously with the finite differences DELTASA, DELTAPA. The arithmetic circuit 17 feeds back the reference rolling reduction position error DELTAS*M to a gage meter type plate thickness control device based on the input data and controls so that the plate thickness hA after rolling becomes the target value h*.
