    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure coefficient of performance and high heating capacity in heating operation even if outdoor air temperature is low by providing a fluid injection line for injecting fluid refrigerant into a compressor between a subcooler at a heat source side and a pressure reducing device. SOLUTION: A compressor 1B enabling injection of fluid into a compressing system section, an application side heat exchanger 2, a heat source side subcooler 3, a pressure reducing device 4, a heat source side heat exchanger 5, a flow control valve 6 and fluid injecting lines 7B, 7C are provided. The fluid injection circuit is composed of the flow control valve 6 and the fluid injecting lines 7B, 7C. When heating operation is implemented, stable fluid refrigerant is supplied to the compressing system section of the compressor 1B through the fluid injecting circuit to keep temperature of winding of a driving motor for the compressor 1B and temperature of discharged refrigerant appropriate. As a result, the compressor 1B can be utilized at a high pressure ratio so that coefficient of performance and capacity for heating are assured even when outdoor temperature is low.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent performance of a heat pump from being deteriorated when outdoor temperature is low, by controlling an expansion valve in such a manner as to keep an inlet of a compressor at a target degree of superheat in order to effectively use a fluid injection circuit. SOLUTION: Firstly, operation of an air conditioner is started (S100). Then, compressor inlet pressure Ps and compressor inlet refrigerant temperature Ts are detected (S101) and refrigerant saturation temperature Tc at the compressor inlet pressure Ps is obtained (S102). Difference Δt between the compressor inlet refrigerant temperature Ts and the refrigerant saturation temperature Tc is calculated (S103) and Δt is compared with the target degree of superheat TsSH (S104). If the target degree of superheat TsSH is greater than Δt, a judgment that refrigerant flow is excessive is made to reduce travel of an expansion valve (S105). If the target degree of superheat is equal to Δt, a judgment that the refrigerant flow is appropriate is made so that no operation is made to change the travel of the expansion valve (S106). If the target temperature TsSH is smaller than Δt, a judgment that the refrigerant flow is insufficient is made to increase the travel of the expansion valve (S107).

    • PURPOSE: To simplify the structure of an outdoor unit and to eliminate stagnancy heat in a machine chamber wherein a compressor and a pressure reducing device are held, by a method wherein an electrical component protecting cover of the outdoor unit is made to be of a rotary type and to have a size large enough to close up an opening of the machine chamber. CONSTITUTION: An outdoor unit for an air conditioner which is constructed of a compressor 1, a nonuse-side heat exchanger 2, a pressure reducing device 3, a blower 4, an electrical component box 5, an electrical component protecting cover 6 and an outer plate cover 7 can prevent excessive outdoor air from penetrating into the unit, by making the electrical component protecting cover 6 rotate to close up an opening of a machine chamber when inspection or checkup of a state of operation is needed, in a state wherein the outer plate cover 7 is removed. By removing a partition plate of the machine chamber provided so far between the side of the compressor 1 and the pressure reducing device 3 and the side of the blower 4 and the nonuse-side heat exchanger, in this way, a structure is simplified and stagnancy heat on the side of the compressor 1 and the pressure reducing device 3 can be eliminated.
