    • PURPOSE: To monitor plural currents by a single amplifier curcuit and a single A/D converter, by providing a means to monitor the current flowing to the load, to each driving circuit to control the plural loads individually, and inputting the voltages to the A/D converter after the currents are converted to voltages. CONSTITUTION: When four O2 heaters 24a to 24d as loads are provided to a system to control the driving circuit of an engine control device 21, the currents flowing to the loads are detected by resistance elements 22a to 22d, and converted to voltages. Then, signals converted to voltages are delivered in order, to an amplifier circuit 26 by a multiplxer 25, and after amplified there, they are digital converted by an A/D converter built in to a microcomputer 23, and the operating currents of the O2 heaters 24a to 24d are measured from the digital signals. In such a way, the currents flowing to plural loads respectively can be monitored by a single amplifier circuit and a single A/D converter, and a control device can be composed at a low cost.

    • PURPOSE:To facilitate trouble shooting by connecting a memory rewriter, external equipment, to the communication circuit of a CPU, and rewriting the contents of a non-volatile memory with data erasable and writable in the CPU, by the memory rewriter. CONSTITUTION:In a control device 1, a detection signal from an operating state detecting sensor in an engine 2 is waveform-processed by an input processing circuit 4, the optimum operating state is computed by a CPU 3, and a computed control signal is outputted to the engine 2 by an output circuit 5. In the CPU 3, an MPU 7 is put in action according to the control program of an ROM 8, and the computed result is stored in an RAM 9. A memory rewriter 11, external equipment, is connected to the communication circuit 10 of the CPU 3. On the other hand, the action of the CPU 3 is monitored by a watch dog circuit 12, and in the case of abnormality being generated to the CPU 3, the CPU 3 is reset. The contents of the ROM 8 is thereby rewritten by the memory rewriter 11 so as to facilitate trouble shooting.

    • PURPOSE: To improve starting ability at a low temperature by providing a means for detecting electric current passing through an oxygen heater which activates an oxygen sensor for fuel injection control when starting an engine at a low temperature even if a water temperature sensor is broken. CONSTITUTION: This engine controller inputs various sensor signals for computation, and controls actuators such as a fuel injection device and an ignition device so that an optimum driving condition may be obtained. The driving element 22 of an oxygen heater 24 in an oxygen sensor with a heater is controlled by the output signal of a microcomputer 23. At this time, the electric current passing through the oxygen heater 24 is detected by a current detection circuit 25 and is replaced with voltage to be inputted into the microcomputer 23. If a water temperature sensor breakage detection condition is detected, the current of the oxygen heater is detected while the oxygen heater is being energized to compute water temperature T from the maximum current. When the initial value of the water temperature T is large, injection is controlled at the time of starting based on the water temperature T.

CONSTITUTION: Air-fuel mixture enters a cylinder from a suction pipe for combustion, and a part of exhaust gas exhausted from an exhaust pipe passes an EGR valve of step motor type and is refluxed into the suction pipe so as to reduce the amount of NOx contained in the exhaust gas and improve a fuel consumption rate. At this time, if a CPU monitoring circuit 3 detects abnormality of a CPU 2, it is changed over to a gate alley 5 for back-up which can control the ignition time required for the operation of an engine and fuel injection amount. An EGR valve signal output circuit 8 of step motor type which can output energized pattern for valve close operation is built in the gate alley 5, and the EGR valve is fully closed through an output circuit 11 in accordance with its output.

A stabilized power circuit 2, using a battery 9 as a power source, feeds every part with an optimal constant voltage at all times through a power line 6, while the memory part 4 can be electrically subjected to a batch deletion, or made reprogramable. In this case, at the time of program changing, stabilized supply voltage is selected to a higher voltage than the usual one, and in this state, the program is transferred, and after this transfer is over, it is put back to a current-energizing voltage, performing a system motion check.

    • PURPOSE:To execute a screening by impressing the power source voltage of a ROM on a board by making the voltage higher than normal voltage to operate the controller by making an ambient temperature a high temperature. CONSTITUTION:An engine controller 1 where programs or data are written in a ROM 8 is made a normal power source voltage state, whether the controller normally operates or not is decided, and when the controller performs a malfunction, the controller is defined as a rejected product. When the controller normally operates, the voltage of a stabilized power source circuit 12 is switched to the voltage which is higher than normal voltage and a CPU 3 is energized in a state that an ambient temperature is made a high temperature for preliminarily prescribed time and a screening is performed. After the screening is terminated, the voltage of the stabilized power source circuit 12 is switched to normal voltage, whether the controller normally operates or not is decided. When the controller performs a malfunction, the controller is defined as the rejected product, and when the controller normally operates, it is defines as an acceptable product. Thus, the initial defect of the ROM 8 of the CPU 3 can be extracted on a board.
