    • PURPOSE:To accurately measure dc current over a wide range by using two sources having different wavelength and dividing these two light waves into two polarized components which are perpendicular to each other at a light emitting end of a magnetic field sensor. CONSTITUTION:Two light waves having different wavelength are generated by light sources 1, 2 and made incident to an optical fiber 4 by a light synthesizer 3. A polarizer 5 polarizes the light wave of first wavelength of the two light waves to make it linearly polarized light and allows light of second wavelength to be passed through without polarization. An analyzer 7 divides both light waves of two wavelength into perpendicularly polarized components, P polarized light and S polarized light components. Of the polarized light components, the P polarized component is transmitted by an optical fiber 11 to a signal processing circuit 50 and the S polarized component is transmitted by an optical fiber 12 to the signal processing circuit 50. In the circuit 50, light branching filters 13, 14 divide the light waves into a light signal of first wavelength and a light signal of second wavelength due to difference in wavelength of the two light waves, which are converted into electric signals by photo diodes 21 to 24 and enter an arithmetic processing circuit 30. The circuit 50 can be used to measure dc current.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a pass deviation measuring device that can measure easily deviation of the pass, by providing a light source and a television camera in front and rear of a pass formed by a pair of rolls of a rolling mill, and displaying the amount of deviation of the pass caught by the television camera by a display device. CONSTITUTION:Light from a light projector 22 is sent to a television camera 24 through a circular space consisting of an upper pass 50 and a lower pass 50 formed by an upper roll 18 and a lower roll 20. The picture received by the camera 24 is converted to current and sent to a receiver, and the picture of the pass is projected on a cathode ray tube as shown in the figure. Deviation in X direction Xr projected on the cathode ray tube is corrected as follows. That is, driving force of a motor 42 is transmitted through worm gears 38, 48 and a coupling 40 to move rods 34, 46 vertically. Consequently, the roll 18 is moved, for instance, to the right, and the center line Yr of the pass 50 is positioned on a reference line Yo. Adjustment of the pass 52 is performed similarly.

    • PURPOSE: To exchange rolls and guides quickly and easily, by supporting respective rolling mills movably in a lump with the aid of a common supporting frame, in a continuous rolling mill equipped with plural vertical mills and horizontal mills connected by rolling guides.
      CONSTITUTION: In a continuous rolling mill for billet, constituted of vertical mills 1, 3 and horizontal mills 2, 4 arranged alternately and connected in series by many guides 25W32 used for a material to be rolled, respective mills 1W4 are supported by a common frame 56 to be movable to the exchanging position of rolls and guides along the direction intersecting with a rolling line A. In changing the shape or dimensions of the material, the replacement of rolling rolls and guides are quickly performed and the operating efficiency of the mill is prevented from lowering by drawing out the frame 56 along rails 17, 19 in the direction B intersecting with the rolling line A, and further drawing out and moving it in the direction offsetting the rolling lines of respective mills against the vertical mills 1, 3.

    • PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for exchanging a seal with the stepless change in the outside diameter of a long-sized pipe and to improve the yield of pressurizing gas with a device which supplies the gas under pressure to the inside of the long-sized pipe and seals hermetically the same by specifying the enaging and welding of a welding chamber and the long-sized pipe. CONSTITUTION:A long-sized pipe 1 attached with plugs 2, 3 at both ends is held by a chuck 8 and the end face 3b on the outside circumference of the small hole 3a of the plug 3 is pressed to the surface of a seal 7 attached to the gas feed port 4b of a welding chamber 4. The seal 7 is formed of a pressure and heat resistant elastic material which prevents leakage of the pressure when gas is supplied under pressure from the chamber 4 to the pipe 1. The end face 3b is tapered to increase the contact area with the seal 7. The bore of the port 4b is smaller than the bore of the seal 7 and is eventually smaller than the outside diameter of the pipe 1. The air in the pipe 1 and the chamber 4 is evacuated through a piping 5 then the gas is in turn supplied under pressure through the pipe 5 into said pipe and chamber and thereafter a laser is applied through an output lens 9 and a transmission window 10 to the hole 3a to weld and seal hermetically the hole. The need for exchanging the seal 7 is thus eliminated and the inside volume of the chamber 4 is made smaller.
