    • PURPOSE: To improve working precision in out-of-roundness, cylindricity, etc., and to obtain a high-precision ceramic roll by blocking movement in the axial direction of a work roll made of a ceramic roll by means of a supporting bearing which is rotated synchronously with a roller or roll and which is provided in contact with its end face. CONSTITUTION: A pair of intermediate rolls 3 and a pair of reinforcing rolls 4 consisting of a shaft and barrel are pressed against a work roll 1 composed of sialon; and the work roll 1 is rotated trailingly by the rotary driving of the intermediate rolls 3. The shaft of the intermediate rolls 3 is rotatably driven by a motor through a universal joint and a reduction gear. Additionally, the shaft of the intermediate rolls 3 transmits a rolling reaction force to a bearing provided in the shaft. On each end face of the work roll 1, the movement in the axial direction of the work roll 1 is supported by the supporting bearing 9 and the supporting part 8 of the work roll so as to be rotated synchronously with the rotation of the ceramic roll. As a result, the movement is restrained in the axial direction of the work roll.

    • PURPOSE:To produce the sintered compact less in bend by hanging a compact and exerting tensile load on the compact by a dead weight or a hook in the axial direction of a sintering direction at the time of sintering a cylindrical or columnar ceramic compact. CONSTITUTION:Through roles 2 are drilled at both sides of the ceramic roller compact 1, and a cord 3 is threaded through each hole 2, and the upper part thereof is tied to make a loop and hung on the graphite circular disk 4 having a hole at the center. The graphite dead weight 7 having a hole 6 is hung in the lower part and the compact 1 is sintered in this state. In this way, the sintered compact prevented from the bending stress due to the density unevenness and temp. unevenness of the sintered compact and less in bend is obtained since the stress always acts uniformly in the axial direction at the time of sintering. Therefore, the need of much finishing allowance for the time of grinding working is eliminated to thus reducing the cost of the product.
