    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform the optimum screen display by controlling a screen state in the situation when external information is shown on a TV receiver. SOLUTION: When a telephone line is connected to an external information input-output terminal 109, a modem 111 modulates, demodulates data and corrects errors. Then, a CPU 35 processes the data, creates document data in an HTML format and outputs it to a display control processing circuit 112 through a data bus 114. When a data transfer speed is slow due to the congestion of a connected line, the size of a screen is changed in accordance with the speed. That is, a television image is shown in a large size on a screen and an HTML document video part is shown in a small size by means of control signals a and b of the output of the circuit 112. Thereby, when information such as an internet, etc., can not immediately be shown, a waiting state can be improved. Also, in sound, when a transfer speed is slow, television image sound is increased and HTML document related sound is reduced at the time of synthesizing in a sound synthesizing circuit 107 by means of a control signal c of the output of a sound control processing circuit 113.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display an image without deterioration in the image and to prevent the circuit scale from being increased by reading a standard television signal synchronously with a stable oscillation output in the case of reading the standard television signal from a storage section in an N-multiple means so as to conduct double speed conversion and correcting a time base of the signal. SOLUTION: A received standard television signal is written in storage sections 105a, 105b used for double speed conversion in an N multiple means 105 synchronously with an oscillation output from a 2nd oscillation means 107 in common for the double speed conversion. The standard television signal of N multiple speed whose time base fluctuation having been in existence at the reception is outputted by reading the written standard television signal from the storage sections 105a, 105b synchronously with the oscillation output from the 1st oscillation means 124. The standard television signal of N multiple speed is given to a display device 126 synchronously with a horizontal drive pulse from a horizontal drive pulse generating means 109 and displayed thereat.

    • PURPOSE:To always provide high-quality pictures by eliminating the picture quality deterioration of video signals after waveform equalization by performing optimum picture quality correction to the video signals after waveform equalization based on the state of input video signals and the information of waveform equalization. CONSTITUTION:An average noise component contained in the video signal is detected by a noise detection circuit 113 and outputted to a picture quality control circuit 114. A tap coefficient arithmetic circuit 116 prepares information for estimating the state of equalized images from tap information at the time of waveform equalization and outputs it to the circuit 114. The circuit 114 prepares picture quality control information and outputs it to a picture quality correction circuit 115 based on noise information outputted from the circuit 113, image state information outputted from the circuit 116 and GCR peak level information prepared from a reference (GCR) signal for ghost removal inserted to the inputted video signal. Thus, high-quality pictures can be always provided without causing deterioration of an S/N or conversely causing unsharpness after waveform equalization.
