    • PURPOSE:To improve the operability by regarding a character string as spelling of a naturalized word or an abbreviation to automatically perform the naturalized word spelling-KATAKANA (square form of Japanese syllabary) conversion when the character string which does not accord with spelling of Romaji (a method of writing Japanese in Roman characters) is inputted. CONSTITUTION:A controller 4 checks whether the character string inputted from a character input device 2 accords with the Romaji notation or not. If it accords with the Romaji notation, it is converted to HIRAGANA (cursive form of Japanese syllabary), KATAKANA or KANJI (Chinese character) and is displayed on a character display device 1. If the inputted character string does not accord with the Romaji notation, it is regarded as a naturalized word or an abbreviation to refer to a table of correspondence between spellings of naturalized words and KATAKANA characters or a table of correspondence between abbreviations and full-spelling character strings which is stored in a storage device 3, and the result is displayed on the device 1. Thus, switching between the Romaji-KANA (Japanese syllabary) conversion mode and the naturalized word spelling-KATAKANA conversion mode by the character input device 2 is unnecessary to improve the operability.

    • PURPOSE:To improve correction operability and a reconversion ratio by automatically recovering a KANA (Japanese syllabary)-character string to be converted corresponding to a conversion unit including an error conversion part at the time of noticing error conversion, and converting KANA into KANJI (Chinese character) again by means of the KANA-character string to be converted including block segment information due to the designation of an operator. CONSTITUTION:A system has a character input part 1, a character display part 3, a dictionary storage part 4 and a KANA/KANJI conversion processing control part 2 controlling said parts. If the error conversion of the character string mixed with the KANJI having converted is noticed while KANA character string data to be converted for KANA/KANJI conversion is inputted, data in the middle of conversion at present is moved and the KANA-character string to be countered corresponding to the conversion unit including the error conversion part is restored. With the instruction of the operator, block segment is designated in an optional position, reconversion is executed, and desired character string mixed with the KANJI is obtained, whereby data in the idle of conversion which has been moved is restored. Thus, reconversion can easily be executed, and the operability of correction operation and the reconversion ratio at the time of error conversion can be improved.

    • PURPOSE:To enable to print through changing the relative position of a character data for a format overlay, by designation a character shift amount with the number of characters and size of characters, and inserting a space character corresponding to shift by means of compression type at the time of shifting a line data. CONSTITUTION:A printing data exceeding one page is stored in a page buffer 24, and the data of one line portion is stored in line buffers 25, 25' from the buffer 24. Size of characters and the number of characters, which show a shift amount of the printing position, are stored in a register 31, and when the data is shifted to the buffers 25, 25' from the buffer 24, a space character corresponding to shift is inserted into the head part from a register 9 by means of compression type. Data from the buffers 25, 25' are shifted to the first line buffer register 41, and when the number of characters showing the shift amount from the register 31 has been detected, a gate 45 is closed until the number of characters becomes zero in a repeat counter 43 and a subtractor 44, and when a value of the counter 43 becomes zero, the gate 45 is opened, the data is shifted to the second line buffer register 42, compression is released, it is outputted to a font memory 26, and printing is executed.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To translate a Chinese word sentence into Japanese word sentence so that the meaning is understood as much as possible by making it easy to grasp the contents of an unregistered word part. SOLUTION: A Chinese sentence input is analyzed by a Chinese morpheme analyzing and context analyzing part 101, and a registered word obtained through the analysis is passed to a Japanese sentence generating process part 107 together with a corresponding added translation Japanese word extracted from a Chinese - Japanese translation dictionary 104. An unregistered word as the analysis result is passed to the Japanese sentence generating process part 107 after being converted into pronunciation notation consisting of alphanumeric, KATAKANA (square form of Japanese syllabary, or HIRAGANA (cursive form of Japanese syllabary) through an unregistered word processing part 105 by using a KANJI (Chinese character) pronunciation table 106. The Japanese sentence generating process part 107 generates a Japanese sentence based upon the translation Japanese and pronunciation notation and outputs it as a translation result. The part of t his translation result corresponding to the side unregistered word is represented as the pronunciation notation.

    • PURPOSE:To display candidates of conversion by giving a first priority to the latest application order with a second priority given to the cumulative application frequency respectively when the display order is decided and therefore decreasing the selecting operations of homonyms for display of conversion candidates. CONSTITUTION:When 'KANSEI' [shown as figure (c) inertia, (d) completion, (e) cheer] is inputted from an input device 22 in KATAKANA (square form of Japanese syllabary), a CPU 21 retrieves a KANA (Japanese syllabary)/KANJI (Chinese characters) conversion dictionary of a memory 23 to check the relation between the input 'KANSEI' and its additional word based on the grammar information. Then the CPU 21 stores the corresponding candidates in a candidate temporary storing part of the memory 23 in the order of cumulative application frequencies for each word number. Then the word numbers of three Chinese characters 'KANSEI' [(c), (d), (e)] are stored in a word storing part of the memory 23 in the latest application order and then stored in a candidate display part in said order. Then the candidates are displayed on the CRT screen of a display device 25 in the latest application order. When a user selects one of those three Chinese characters, the word number of the selected 'KANSEI' (d) is shifted to the latest position of the word storing part to shift totally other words. The unused words are displayed later based on the information on the cumulative application frequency.
