CONSTITUTION:A deflection yoke 2 and a socket 3 are mounted on a color cathode-ray tube to be inspected 1. From a power supply device 4, the respective specified voltage are supplied to the electrodes of this cathode-ray tube 1. A deflecting power supply 5 draws raster in a specified minor division through the yoke 2, and the cathode amperage of the cathode-ray tube 1 is recorded continuously by a recording ammeter 6. The scan region wider than normal scanning area corresponding to the fluorescent surface 7 is divided into minor divisions, for example a-g, and a white raster is drawn in each division. In each minor division, the fluorescent surface, shadow mask, glass bulb inner wall surface, and inner field are bombarded with electron beam, which should lower the degree-of-vacuum holding performance and the electron emission characteristic holding performance under the condition that contaminant substances remain in adsorption to the surfaces of the members.
