    • PURPOSE:To stabilize the sealing characteristic of a magnetic fluid seal device used in a high speed rotary machine, by feeding cooled magnetic fluid into gaps between magnetic rings and a shaft through storage chambers with the use of a cooling facility and a pump. CONSTITUTION:On the inner peripheral side of a nonmagnetic housing 2, a permanent magnet 4 is held between planer magnetic rings 3, and a shaft 1 pierces through the magnetic rings 3 at the center of the latter. Magnetic fluid 5 is applied in gaps between the magnetic rings 3 and the shaft 1. Storage chambers 6 for reserving magnetic fluid 5 are defined between the magnetic rings 3 and the nonmagnetic housing 2 on the magnetic ring 3 side at the upper and lower positions of the housing 2. Magnetic fluid which is always cooled is automatically fed into holes 11 through the storage chambers 6 by means of a cooling facility 10 and a pump 9. Therefore, an increase in temperature of magnetic fluid 5 caused by the heat of shearing friction generated by the rotation of the shaft 1 is restrained due to the heat transmission of the magnet rings 3, and substantially no lowering of sealing characteristic is caused, thereby dissipation of magnetic fluid 5 is slight.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a miniaturized and stable damping device by constituting double vibration parts so as to attenuate vibration by the throttle effect due to the clearances formed between a bearing holder and a bearing case. CONSTITUTION:A bearing holder 5 is oscillatedly turned following the turning vibration of a shaft 1, and for this vibration the lubricating oil 4 in the cylindrical clearance 7 formed on both the inner and outer circumferential surfaces of the bearing holder 5 flows in the circumferential and axial directions to absorb vibration. In this case, the bearing device is double provided with clearances a, b narrow in the axial direction. Accordingly, the axial flow of the lubricating oil 4 is subject to restriction by the throttle effect of the clearances a, b, and a miniaturized and stable damping device can be obtained.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce the weight of the moving part of a bearing support part and to enable stable operation up to a high speed range, by a method wherein a viscous damper is formed on the inner periphery side of a bearing with the plane surfaces, positioned opposite to each other, of a bearing holder and a bearing case. CONSTITUTION:A shearing gap 8 is formed on the inner periphery side of a ball bearing 5 with plane surfaces, positioned opposite to each other, of a bearing holder 3 and a bearing case 6 to form a viscous damper. As noted above, a damping device is located on the inner periphery side of the ball bearing 5, and this reduces weight and size, reduces the mass of the bearing holder 3 and decreases radial load exerted on a gearing 2, stabilizes vibration characteristic of a vertical type rotary machine, and enables to perform stable rotation up to a high speed operation range. Location of the viscous damper part on the inner periphery side causes friction heat, generated by the bearing 2, to be apt to escape to the bearing case 6 through the shearing gap 8, resulting in an increase in the cooling effect of the bearing 2.
