    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a renewal method for an escalator that sets a reference position of location of each new piece of equipment on an existing frame, and a jig for use in the method. SOLUTION: The jig 11 is disposed on a rounded surface portion 5c, 5f of an upper chord part on one side (S1). The inclination of an inclined portion 5b to a horizontal portion 5a, 5e is observed through an angle measuring instrument 18 set in the jig 11, 31 (S2). With the positions of members 12 and 13 as references, points A and B, points H and I are marked on the upper chord part (S3). A line including a point D, J at equal distances from both points A and B, points H and I, and perpendicular to the length of the upper chord part is drawn to specify a boundary position 5d, 5f (S4). For the other upper chord part, the steps S1 to S4 are carried out with the use of the jig 31. The jigs 11 and 31 are disposed in the respective related positions on both upper chord parts, a dislocation detector 46 and a level 47 are arranged between the jigs 11 and 31, and the presence or absence of relative dislocation between the two upper chord parts is observed (S5). In consideration of the measured values and dislocation, the location of each piece of equipment is determined with the boundary positions as references (S6).

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily carry in and install an elevator apparatus preliminarily assembled in a factory by loading, on a receiving member provided in the upper part of an elevator shaft, a support member having a hoist set thereon and a machine room wall member for forming a machine room so as to enclose the hoist. SOLUTION: A hoisting machine 14, an elevator control board 21, a deflector wheel 25, and a machine room wall member 30a are preliminarily loaded on a support member 20 in a factory or the like to assemble a machine room integrated elevator product 46, and the machine room integrated elevator product 46 is carried to a construction site. The machine room integrated elevator product 46 is lifted up by a tower crane 41 or the like through a slinging wire 40, the support member 21 is placed on receiving members 18a, 18b in the upper part of an elevator shaft 1, and the whole body is retained. Since the machine room integrated elevator product 46 is loaded and supported so that the support member 20 is located on the receiving members 18a, 18b formed in the upper part of the elevator shaft 1, a machine room 30 can be constructed in the upper part of the elevator shaft 1 simultaneously with the set of the machine room integrated elevator product 46 preliminarily manufactured in the factory.
